Freeport Community Library – August Spice Club: Guajillo Chili

It’s the end of a spicy era! Our final Spice Club take-and-make craft for adults features whole dried guajillo chilis: beautiful, dark red peppers of medium heat commonly used in Mexican salsas, marinades, and mole. Please stop by the library starting on Tuesday, August 20 at 10:00AM to grab one for yourself. Kits include spice, cultural background, recipes you might try, and suggested reading; available until supplies run out.
For three years, FCL’s Spice Club has distributed over 1,250 plastic-free take-and-make kits to encourage folks to step outside their comfort zone and learn something new, gastronomically as well as culturally. Library staff have presented on this successful program at the Maine Library Association’s annual conference and helped other Maine libraries jumpstart their own sister programs. Alas, all good things must end to make space for the new. It is our hope that this program has added a little extra zest to your life.
